We are well into the season of Advent and during our PHSRE sessions at Company Time this week, our students have been learning about this important part of the Christian calendar.  We have learnt that it means 'coming' and it's the period before Christmas, which celebrates the birth of Jesus.  Upon asking the question, "When does Advert start?" many replied saying the 1st of December.  Advent actually starts on the Sunday nearest to 30 November. So this year, it started on Sunday 28th November and will run until Friday 24th December.  We were very grateful and delighted to have welcomed Reverend Elizabeth Cox from St Mary's Vicarage, Gillingham to Waterfront UTC to talk to Yr9 and Yr10 students about the importance of Advent and about many of the symbolisms, practices, and origins.
