  • SENCo and Safeguarding Lead

    Waterfront UTC is seeking to appoint an aspiring or experienced SENCo and Safeguarding Lead who is committed to excellence from September 2022.

    The successful candidate will be a creative and dynamic practitioner with aspirations of becoming a highly effective SENCo who will be able to contribute to the development of our SEN Department and help drive forward our agenda of continuous improvement. This post would offer an aspiring or experienced SENCo rewarding opportunities and excellent career development.   • Learning Support Assistant

    Waterfront UTC

    Salary NJC Grade D2 Points 4 - 11

    Waterfront UTC is seeking to appoint a Learning Support Assistant for 32.5 hours per week, working Monday – Friday 08:30 – 15:30, Term Time Only, who is keen to support the education and development of young people in a variety of settings within the school.  The successful candidate will be based within the Learning Support Department and will be patient, consistent, determined, hard-working and interested in helping young people to succeed.

    Salary is dependent on experience and graded on the NJC Scale Grade D2 Points 4 - 11 (Actual Salary: £14,148 - 16,253) (£19,264 - £22,129 FTE).

    The UTC originally opened in September 2015 as ‘Medway UTC’ but, since working with The Howard Academy Trust, the school has recently been re-launched as a fresh start school - ‘Waterfront UTC’ to continue its ongoing development which is proving to be very successful. Through employer partnerships, Waterfront UTC is a school that offers each student the opportunity of clear employment routes, whilst providing a strong traditional education. At Waterfront UTC, students are developed to be employable young professionals.

  • Assistant Headteacher

    Waterfront UTC

    Salary Leadership Scale L4 - L9

    Due to exciting growth in the school, with a 40% increase in pupils since September 2021, The Howard Academy Trust is pleased to be able to offer an exciting opportunity for 3 aspiring or established Assistant Headteachers, at Waterfront UTC from September 2022. 

    These roles will enhance the current SLT, which is led by Fiona McLean, who is a dynamic Head of School. Fiona and The Howard Academy Trust will help you to develop the skills you need to be a Deputy or Head of School, if you show the potential for these roles.  

    We want leaders who are motivated and resilient. Your number of years of experience, is less important to us than the commitment and drive that you bring.  

    We are looking for 3 AHT’s in the following areas:  

    • Quality of Education 

    • Raising Standards & Curriculum 

    • Personal Development 

    These roles will involve teaching and you be expected to be a strong classroom practitioner. The subject areas that we are particularly interested in are Engineering, Construction, Design Technology/Three-Dimensional Design and PE.

    Due to exciting growth in the school, with a 40% increase in pupils since September 2021, an exciting opportunity has arisen for exceptional Teachers of Engineering/Construction/Design and Technology to start with effect from September 2022.

    We are looking for someone who has the enthusiasm, energy, drive and experience to ensure that Waterfront UTC meets all our student needs and excels in this field to support our students’ fundamental subjects. Support is available across The Howard Academy Trust schools to ensure and support successful curriculum delivery.

    This post may be suitable for a new entrant to the profession, or for an experienced and unqualified teacher looking to gain further experience and train as a qualified teacher.

    This post comes with a Golden Hello - £2,500 on joining the Academy in September and then a further £2,500 after committing to a second year in the Academy. The Trust also offer a comprehensive and generous relocation package of £1,500 for the right candidate joining us from out of area.
